Land Mass won the Sound on Screen Film Festival 'Best Sound' award a year or so ago. The FINAL version of the film has never been screened to the dedicated followers of this project and new audience members who may be curious!Â
The project was started in 2019 with a 2-day recording session with TIC! The Improvisers' Choir, directed by Jenni Roditi.Â
It took 3 years to get to the final version of the music-film and the final cut was never shared with the fans and followers as too many other layers of work took over in dealing with such a big project!Â
Now a space is clearing in which to refocus and to celebrate the win of the Sound on Screen FF Award. đ„
The chance to screen the piece at a local cinema is also now being pursued again, after a break to concentrate on other projects.Â
Get your best headphones and settle in for a 48-minute surreal ride round the natural season of 1 year - guided by a mystical poem called 'Bird Bath' by spoken-word poet Toby Thompson, who sets the scene for the musical odyssey.Â

âFor some reason I felt a Biblical sequence in your piece, as if it began with Creation, with that question of âwho creates?â and then the creation unfolds â all the way to an Exodus of some kindâ. Daniel Fishel, friend.
âI was spellbound, weeping, raging and enchanted â it opens up the whole vessel of the human being.â Sarah Verney, senior music therapist, friend.
âNeither preaching nor catastrophising, this is an opportunity to see things as they really are; to feel the power and emotion in the voices that accompany each segment; and to revisit the text of the opening poem, to remind us of the questions we can ask ourselves daily.â John Bradley, singer, friend.
âBeautiful work, deep and emotive, thank you.â Anon
âWe never hear this depth and range of voice â but now we have! The layers of humanity are like geology in sound.â Liz Dilnot-Johnson, composer, friend.
