Come together for a printmaking workshop, led by artist Rudy Tomala, to bring together the community on Trans Day of Remembrance, enabling you to take the time to remember all those we have lost and prioritise time with loved ones, friends and new connections.
"We’ll be focusing on lino printing, a method of printmaking that I find very cathartic due to how involved, repetitive and unpredictable it can be - you never really know what it’s going to look like until you’ve printed it. If you haven’t done lino printing before I will be on hand to walk you through it. Basic materials will be provided and you can make a small series of prints to share with your friends, patches to add to a jacket, bookmarks, or cards to share around. If you’d like to bring anything to work on or with feel free!"
You can make anything you like, feel free to come prepared and bring a sketch or just see how you feel on the day and make something unpredictable. If you do want to work on a theme, we invite you to explore ‘trans futures’ and what that means to you, your future and present, how it makes you feel. At the end of the session you will walk away with a series of original lino pieces created by you, more knowledge and confidence in the practice, and a day well spent with our community.
The workshop will take place at SEESAW, with limited spaces available. There is a cafe on site serving refreshments, and in-house kitchen RamYum serving Korean inspired street food. The venue is fully accessible, access is via the sliding doors on the cobbled street.
SEESAW is an arts and culture venue and workspace located in 86 Princess Street, our aim is to connect with local artists to grow the creative scene in the North West. If you have any questions around accessibility, please contact Charlotte at hello@seesawspace.com. If you would like any more information on the workshop, please contact Taome at events@seesawcreate.com.
